Schools

Cordial Media Training is working to promote media production in both primary and
secondary education. We already provide 'Fast Track' courses for school staff with
specific training days for education - usually as part of their own inset day training. From
the success of our recent pilot scheme in Gloucestershire we are in a unique position to
develop a hugely beneficial training program for schools across the county.

Our 'Teach the Teacher' module aims to equip school staff with both the understanding to
take media related exercises into the classroom, and the skills to use the video equipment
effectively - skills which they, in turn, can pass on to their students.

We provide the equipment, facilities and training needed for schools to film and produce
their own DVDs of any event or performance. We can also help with the creation of
promotional material for the internet and, most importantly, teach practical skills and
support the production of short films created by the students themselves.

Our aim is for staff to become self-sufficient through our training courses, thus our
educational program in media can be sustained within the schools themselves for years to
come. Cordial Media Training will ensure the program's sustained success through providing
necessary 'after care' when needed.

Our fun workshops offer children and teachers alike practical, hands-on advice and experience
designed to stimulate and educate.

Our training program touches on many skills across a broad range of creative subjects,
including creative writing, art and design, drama and IT. Each exercise relative to film
making that can be brought into the classroom employs a different set of these skills, and as
such becomes a valuable teaching and learning tool.

Writing screenplays relates directly to creative writing and expands on the subject to look at
an example of the subject’s application within the media.

The art of story boarding takes children through the process of turning their ideas into a
structured, visual layout of events - much like a comic strip - as they are to be seen through
the camera lens. This stimulates many creative skills in the students, as well as teaching them
how to work as a team in the pre-production process.

Their hands-on use of the video equipment embeds technical handling skills, while the
experience of performing in front of the camera is a disciplined form of drama.

The school can take the process of editing as far as it decides is within the relevant level of IT
for the students involved. However, the enjoyable aspect of learning new skills is valuable to the
teaching of this subject.

Our program of training for schools is beneficial to students on a practical level and, we believe,
enhances the quality of education in many areas. These objectives are very close to what is at
the heart of our company.
